If we are to talk about the beginning of the history of the company ZPA Nová Paka, a.s., we have to return to the past century when in 1882 brothers Moravec from Nová Paka and V. Hrdý from Brno built a brick-kiln approximately in the place of the current object of the firm. In 1885, when textile, especially stocking industry, started to develop in the local region, the said men also founded a spinner next to the brick-kiln.
The beginning of electrotechnical production is dated to 1940, when the factory was taken over by the Berlin firm Siemens und Halske and it introduced the production of condensers in Nová Paka for German military weapons and arms systems. At that time, the firm was called Radiotechna GmbH.
After the end of the Second World War and capitulation of Germany, production of measuring and control devices of the firm Siemens und Halske was liquidated in Plesná u Chebu and after fairly dramatic negotiations, remaining devices, parts and technologies were moved to Nová Paka and the production was transferred there. On 7th March 1946, the plant joined the newly established plant Metra Blansko. Therewith the current tradition of production of measuring and control technology was commenced. The production of devices, which had the foundations in the technical know-how of the firm Siemens und Halske, was proven and the firm was gradually marketing apparatuses of own design.
On 1st January 1951, new national plant Regula was established in Prague and the plant in Nová Paka was made a part of it. However, the plants unified in the plant management of Regula asked for independence and, therefore, as of 1st January 1953, the firm Regula Nová Paka was declared an independent plant.
As of 1st July 1958, new national plant Závody průmyslové automatizace (Industrial automation plants) (that is why the current name ZPA) was established. The Nová Paka factory became a plant again and was included into this complex.
In 1965, another reorganization of industrial plants took place and many new headquarters were established. The Nová Paka plant, together with plants Pečka and Ústí nad Labem were included into the national plant Závody průmyslové automatizace Jinonice. The Jinonice plant was included into the headquarters of Závody přístrojů a automatizace Praha (Device and Automation Plants Prague).
In 1981, another reorganization of VHJ took place and the plant Nová Paka was transferred to the concern plant ZPA Trutnov.
In 1990, the firm became independent again and on 18.4.1990, national plant ZPA NOVÁ PAKA was established.
In 1992, when so-called large privatization took place, the firm was privatized in the first wave and on 1.5.1992, joint-stock company ZPA Nová Paka was established. In the same year, contacts were established with the firm Rosemount (USA), which resulted in the establishment of co-operation production of the world-famous pressure difference sensor 1151.
In 1994, the company ZPA Nová Paka followed-up the co-operation with the German manufacturer of electronics, the firm AEG, for which it started to manufacture condensers.
In 1997, the company ZPA Nová Paka prepared audit procedure and succeeded in the audit performed by the Electrotechnical Testing Institute. On the basis of it, it was awarded the Certificate ISO 9001, which expressed the quality of production of measuring and control technology of the company. At the same time, the firm obtained the quality award “Supplier of the Year 1997” for sub-deliveries from the firm AEG.
On 1.2.2001, re-audit of the Quality System pursuant to ISO 9001 was performed successfully by the Electrotechnical Testing Institute.
On 27.1.2004, the Certificate ISO 9001:2001 was awarded to the company as a result of a successful audit performed by the Electrotechnical Testing Institute
